oh absolutely been saying this for ages
Bring Back Dark Damien
Bring Back Dark Damien
I started a thread on him two boards back but no one wanted him.
I see Hoilett scored another goal last night in the Premier League and made 2 decent touch-line dribbles - surely by now this is proof beyond all reasonable doubt he should be signed for THFC in order to become the next David Bentley and a vessel for general fans' outpuring of hate and disappointment.
Alternatively we can go for the guy who was 'quite good at Reading' and now has managed to score a few goals against bottom 5 random cloggers giving solid indication of his ascend towards Frank Lampard's level of ability based on nothing more other than their general location on the field
Or we can really punch out of the box here and buy someone who actually improves the first 11 as opposed to the Next Gen squad and seek to raise the overall squad quality for next season. That's a crazy idea, granted and one which may take time to fully comprehend but I'm of the opinion we should be aiming to buy one player of very high quality instead of 3 brick ones who would most likely cost more in wages overall and take up 3 spots out of the 25. We went to great trouble to rid the squad of Jenas, Hutton, Palacios, Crouch, Bentley (almost), Bassong, Corluka, Pienaar and now we seem desperate to fill it up again with the exact same level of players. Bizzare logic at the very least
I have to say that if some of our incomings were Hoilett and Sigurdsson to replace the likes of Bentley, Dos Santos, Jenas then I would be very pleased. It would to my mind represent an upgrade on the squad overall whilst probably costing less overall in wages and fees than we would receive for the mentioned players. I like the pair of them as players and feel both would be pretty good additions to the club.
This is a young English right winger.2009/2010 - 21 goals in 44 matches for Reading in all competitions(Including an equaliser from the spot, against Liverpool in extra time in the F.A. Cup that got Reading into overtime, where they won.) Was voted player of the year by the fans.
2010/2011 - 10 goals and 2 assists in only 13 starts for Hoffenheim. Voted player of the year by the fans.
2011/2012 - 5 goals and 2 assists in 9 games for Swansea.
But I respect your argument, just like Wriggly's. Only my point is, if we continuously wait for players to prove themselves for some time at the highest level, they end up costing a lot(usually too much) and we'll have the big dogs pushing us away from the table. 10 million pounds for an attacking midfielder who could well score 10+ goals a season and have a number of assists, with brilliants set-pieces and only 22 years old. You tell me?

This is a young English right winger.
2005/06 - Scored a hat trick in a 4-3 win on his debut against Man United, becoming the first player ever to score a hat trick against them. Scored five goals to power a weak Blackburn to 6th in the league to qualify for the UEFA Cup.
2006/07 - Scored 7 goals and provided 13 assists, including many fantastic long distance shots and free kicks. Regarded by the club as a set-piece specialist and is voted player of the year by the fans
2007/08 - 8 goals, 13 assists. Impressed enough to receive 7 England caps, and Blackburn place an ?ú18m valuation on his head.
You can have him - the new David Beckham - for just ?ú15m
That's in midfield where they're absolutely dire - the fact Scholes came back and is a starter says it all
In other news - Jol says he's love to have him back![]()
Berba and Ruiz in the same team?!
\o/
they're building a good team there, with those 2 and Pogrebnyak, Dempsey plus the potential of Frei and Dembele. bet Zamora wishes he'd stayed.
So essentuially what you're suggesting is we should spend wages, fess and agent fees on 2 inferior squad players in order to replace 2 existing subs (not to mention we need to sell first). I wonder how Toilet and Sigurdsson would look after a month on our bench, zero playing time and minimal match-fitness? Because the bench is exactly where they'll be 90% of the time. Let me give you some clues - look at Gio, Pienaar and even ol' Pav = utterly brick and short of any confidence. None of those 2 mentioned above are fit to grace the team sheet 11. Probably the equvalent of replacing a Skoda with a VW Golf - marginally better = fundamentally the same car.
Enough with these limited cloggers and hyped-up Champinship nothing players looking good on the Weekend Review show
Enough with looking to replace one squad player with another based on the latter scoring 3 concsecutive goals against Wigan Athletic
Enough with this miopic outlook of a 'cheapie but a goodie' wheeler-dealer semi-retired injury prone crocks 6-month flimflam deals. Enough
A club of our scale and our aspirations for the future needs to unconditionally make a statement in the transfer market. How would we ever attract higher calibre players in the fold of Hazard if we keep mentioning Blackburn and Wigan's on-form 'stars'.
We need a clear transfer outlook based on thorough research and informed decisions. Not to mention we're flush.
If we want to be regular CL participants, Top 4 pushers and even title-contenders - our transfer dealings must reflect that else the balance would not work.
And if the chairman isn't willing to trust Arry with some pessos due to his imminenet departure - then perhaps we need to seek making alternative arrangments
He had a falling out with the coach which is why they let him go cheap.
You sound a bit angry? Are you ok?
With all due respect, not that I would want to question your ability on understanding how a squad is composed but I will anyway. Those toilet players that you mention can come into our squad and give us a greater depth for the positions we require. No one is saying we shouldn't go for the likes of Hazard and Llorente but you also need a few players in your squad that perhaps arent superstars but can come in and do a decent job unlike the replacements we have now.
