Victor Wanyama

I said at the time we signed him he is much more then a DM player, the guy can play and i think he will become a regular player in our team even when everyone is fit.

How do we not collapse as a team when put under a lot of pressure? Key question as it seems like a recurring issue, no?

For me the job the deep midfielder(s) does on the ball is key in those situations. It's where Wanyama continues to look unimpressive and that for me is a worry.

If he can perform like he did in the first half yesterday he's excellent. Question is if he can do that in different conditions.

Don't agree with that assessment at all. If any thing Wanyama has surprised me with how good on the ball he has been. If you are looking for a reason we were poor on Tuesday you need to look at our forward players and their inability to hold on to the ball and poor decision making. Wanyama was one of our stand out players in the second half imo.

First half we agree, he was very good on the ball. Second half I didn't see it that way at all. A lot of our players struggled in the second half as you point out and I'm in no way pointing the blame squarely at Wanyama.

What a snip, he has been at £11m :)

Dier is facing a huge battle to regain that defensive midfielder spot - it really is Wanyamas to lose.

Have a look at this:

he's got great balance and quick feet for a big man.
love watching him get out of tight situations on his own.

3 draws on the bounce. 2 goals in those 270 minutes

Says it all really

Rock solid, but missing Dier's superior transitioning

I was wrong about this guy. I saw him as a squad player at best, as decent back-up for Dier. He is much better than I thought. We would have struggled without him considering Dembele's and Dier's absence this season and now with Dier playing at center back.

I told @Gutter Boy he would be an excellent signing for us in the summer and that he would establish himself as a first team player but he would not have any of it

People criticise him because they have an agenda, Wanyama starting means it is less likely that Dier starts in central midfield. The fact is outside our defence Wanyama has been our best player this season

Dier must get his head down and work.
He is young enough to adapt as Poch requires.

Wanyama has been great

We may play better with Dier there, who knows, but you cannot fault a Wanyama

And yesterday it was him trying to lead the attacking charge. It was Wanyama that did the back heel turn on about 85 mins wasn't it?
