I don’t understand this argument that the fans are the ones to blame for the sackings of those managers. It’s not that he’s sacked managers because of fans, it’s that he wouldn’t sack them if there was overwhelming support of a manager. Poch and Jol are the only ones who come close to that, and even then neither decision was a major shock.

Jose I definitely think the fans never warmed to because of his style of play and his Chelsea connection. I think there are always times when fans aren’t happy with how things are going, I don’t think that’s the same as actively wanting them out. And I don’t think the atmosphere was toxic as a result of a manager being unpopular, it was aimed more at the club (Levy) then any manager as he is the only constant in 23 ish years.

Fair post. I guess we don’t know what will happen with Ange. Hopefully he’s a resounding success next season. In the event that the team struggle and we’re not competing for the top 4 I hope Levy remains patient as long as it’s clear we’re heading in the right direction performance wise. I’m just pushing back at the notion that it was the fans getting impatient not Levy when it was Levy that pulled the trigger on firing those coaches. If you think he will be patient that’s fine but let’s not rewrite history and pretend the majority of the fanbase wanted those managers out and were actively campaigning for it when in reality they were voicing their disapproval at Levy.

My original post wasn’t aimed at you or responding to you. I was responding to the idea that our fans are impatient and Levy only responded to the fans wanting managers out.

I think they are bonkers, we have a decent team, but that's it it's decent. It has some really obvious flaws and gaps and so I'm just not understanding the rage and fury. Before the season started we would have bitten hands off for 5th. I wanted top 6 so 5th is disappointing considering some of the early form, but that form was never going to be sustainable.

The simplest answer for not passing forwards, imv, is a lack of movement off the ball for the man in possession to make a progressive pass and/or a lack of understanding of what the plan when in possession is

You're simply wrong though, the movement is there, it's clear as day. The players are not being brave enough to find the pass to match the movement.

Or the players aren't capable of making those progressive passes. It's one thing to see them, it's another to actually have the confidence and the ability to actually play them. Even earlier in the season we weren't really breaking lines consistently with our passing but the pace of the passing was much higher. I do think that's dropped off as the confidence has waned but I think again it's an ability issue rather than a coaching one.
