I reckon he leaves Sterling on in the hope that he'll get his confidence up.

But he's always going to need 10 chances or more to score a goal.
 
Henderson does get drawn to the ball at times when he should be sitting. The best example would be when he and Walker both jumped for the same ball and lost it, only for it to fall for Sweden with no one sitting in front of the defence.
I do think the 3 man midfield will be our undoing, especially as we seem to both sit deep and press. Very disjointed.

Happy though. I might not sound it, but I can't celebrate without first looking at our failings.

Putting a shift in is how commentators always describe brick players they don't want to criticise.

Henderson definitely put a shift in - there's no doubting his desire. If he only had talent and a brain to go with it he'd be a footballer.
 
BTW, how much fudging makeup has Dele's gf got on? It's like someone has layed it on with a trowel.

Depends what you want from a footballer.

I prefer Modric to Parker, Pirlo to Henderson. I value intelligence, understanding and skill over running, heart, sliding tackles and all that other stuff the less thinky end of our press loves.

The bottom of midfield should be the very fulcrum of a team's play, the source of everything going forward and where the style, tempo and direction of play is dictated.

Henderson runs a lot.
