Momentum is a bitch .. look at City

We really needed to get a result here, week-end and in cup against United.

A bad result on the week-end becomes a disaster now ..
I think if we have a bad result on the weekend those sitting on the fence will turn. that's when Ange has a serious problem

Agreed, the problem is we are in the stumble stage

- Don't win the next two games and you are almost last legs scenario
- Win the next two, and then you hit Pool & Forest away, could easily W/W/L/L

Said above, momentum, injuries. we are in trouble, hard to see a short term turnaround at this point

He will get sacked and not just because that's what happens to managers. It will be within the next year, but probably this season.

Just start defending properly.
It doesn't mean we have to play more defensively, two different things, we just need to get the basics right. Both our FBs get dragged in centrally, yet nobody's marking anyone. We're so open at the back, but can't counterattack properly. We're outnumbered everywhere despite running around like crazy.

Sadly, probably correct ..

It's because we run around like crazy that we are outnumbered everywhere. We lose shape quickly. We are appalling at using space tactically. It's not rocket science. You don't need to hound the opposition all the time. Just stick players in the space in between the passing angles and keep some shape and it becomes 10 times harder for the opposition then press them when they start getting frustrated.

It's out for good now. Werner isn't the greatest at at a lot of things, but if Ange thinks he was the problem tonight, then cheerio.

As soon as we've lost to ManU, he's toast.

Exactly.
His philosophy might work long term, but if it takes two years to bed, you have to find solutions in for the now as well.
He’s barely stayed longer than 2 or 3 seasons in most of his jobs. That’s therefore a long bedding in period.

I have to admit I find it difficult to see how he's going to turn it around, unless we can get a bit of a streak going into the new year and hopefully sign a few new players. I was talking to a Celtic mate of mine today, and he says he doesn't recognize anything of how he set up Celtic to play in this current Spurs team - especially how we don't press anywhere near what they did. How come we don't? Surely we don't have inferior players to Celtic? Sure, we have a lot of tired legs out there, and a lot of injuries - it's obviously hard to field a good team under those conditions, but we do have a relatively large squad and players drilled in the same system - why not rotate more? You don't have to completely switch the side around everytime, just rotate at least 2 or 3 players every game when the schedule is hectic, just give people a rest, play Spence instead of Porro one game, Reguilon instead of Udogie one game (we have to use what we have). I don't understand why we we haven't done that. We barely got by playing the games we did last season and we're playing almost the double amount of games this season. We were bound to get injuries and fatigue. Poor squad management in my book. Also players constantly being played out of place, instead of using younger players to play in their actual positions. They were supposedly good enough at the start of the season, then no games at all when the season started. I find it odd.

Ange obviously knows a lot more football than I do, and he probably got his reason. It just doesn't look particularly good from the outside.
Celtic have the confidence of being far superior to most teams they play and also the league is less intense. They naturally ger a breather due to the quality and fitness of the opposition.

I feel like the players consciously or subconsciously don't fully commit to what Ange wants them to do because they play the high line and high press then get done on the counter easily so they're then naturally dropping back a bit. Indecision creeps in "do we do what the manager wants? They're killing us on the break maybe I should drop a bit"

And the PL is already physically demanding and played at such a pace and intensity. When you add in an extremely intense style, players are agaun caught in two minds between following instructions and feeling the limits of their own bodies....we've had so many stress injuries like hamstring pulls....again players are probably tired and feeling muscle tightness and fatigue a lot so probably just subconsciously pulling back a bit. Happened last season where we started like a train and hit a brick wall. This season started well in terms of intensity but results didn't quite match performances but we've hit the sane brick wall and injury crisis we ran into at pretty much the exact same point last season.....

the United one is the one we can afford to lose, no points up for grabs and not something that can get us closer to the CL

We've no chance of a decent league finish this season......not unless we do something like get Thomas Frank in...and get him some bodies in the Jan window. But we won't do that, we'll let Ange bumble on to the inevitable last straw moment then it will be Ryan Mason time again...

I've been Ange out for a while, but I am fuming at his comments on Werner, completely uncalled for, the wrong target, and the wrong way to bring a team together.

He is so far out of his depth its a different sport.

If I was Levy I'd be sacking him right now.

What a stupid clam.

Ive never had a second of time for Werner ability wise. But you just dont throw players under the bus like that. Esp ones who try.

Amateur hour

I’m sorry but that is just a ridiculously anti-Spurs article. I haven’t really read 365 for a few years but the journalism was always pretty good as I remember it. Not saying there aren’t some accuracies in there but the tone and some of the language should rile every Sours fan.
The opening to the last para “Southampton away up next for these absolute clowns,” is a prime example.
I won't even open it. The narratives right now are madness.

The narrative is very fair. The basic premise of the article is asking "where are Spurs going with this?" And they're concluding quite reasonably that all the evidence after those initially promising first 10 games is "nowhere" and they also concluding quite reasonably that the consistent inconsistency mustn't actually be that enjoyable for spurs fans...

I literally couldn’t give a brick about the league. We ain’t winning it and we’re not getting top 4. And even better, it will annoy the hell out of Levy missing his beloved top 4 again.

Certainly not the only problem but it was a bloody stupid decision to loan him AGAIN after his lacklustre first spell. Was such a typical spurs signing and we will probably end up making it permanent and those of us who don’t rate him and express will get another telling off for not getting behind the signing.

I didn't see the game, but do get the feeling that the words "death knell" apply to Ange tonight. I'm not sure when it happens but I would say the odds shifted massively to him losing his job sooner rather than later.

spacegoating players like he did with Werner is unprofessional and unacceptable. You keep that stuff in-house. It's moments like that where you break a culture in the dressing room. He may now lose it altogether.

Ange needs to get his brick together pretty quickly now. If he is a leader then he needs to lead the club out of this slump. He now needs to go into practical mode, and lose this fantasy football mode he's been in for too long. If he is not prepared to compromise, then he deserves to fall on his sword.
