There is: he very young and inexperienced. We saw him play against another side in the EL. And to me he showed he’s not really ready. Fine as a sub but he’s not equipped to start. He needs a loan. And we need Richy fit or a new forward.

Agreed. I think the sending off put the jitters in Ange a bit but that's just an assumption...

Yet he scored at arguably the toughest place to go for any player
What game are you referring to?

It wasn’t the sending off but his alround play. Credit to him for the goal. He’s a talent and large enough to put it about even as a teenager. But he needs to refine his play, probably on loan. All in my opinion. He could take pressure off Solanke. And Ange could use him to press. But fans would need to have patience and less concern with results.

There has to be a balance
That balance is celebrating wins and being annoyed at defeats
Not lurking like an evil villain waiting for the wheels to fall off to day “told you so”

And in Werner, what would we do without him?
As I said at the time he is a squad players who won’t start many games and give Moore another year to develop. Great idea

Obviously having one of our 5 signings injured almost instantly in Odebert put him higher up the ordee
Richy being made of Swiss cheese bumps him up again
And Moore catching an alien illness meant he was suddenly second in line
And we have to stick with son who can’t even trap a bag of cement anymore
What would be the alternative this squad now… maybe play Reggie there
It’s the gamble the club took for longer term gain
Personally im fine with it as I expected some pain

Maybe sign someone other than Werner given he underwhelmed last time? There must be other options out there besides him.

I'm still on the fence re Ange. Having digs at players isn't a good look (although I think he's spot on about Romero). Plan B being doing Plan A better isn't working and the football is pure and utter brick!

Lose or cling to a draw against Southampton, then he can go.

And yes, we agree to disagree broadly, albeit we both want the same for our club. As ever a good discussion!
Goes without saying! I might add that this isn't something I'd hold against him. It's just that because of his attitude and playing style, I expected him to be bolder on that front but that's not the biggest deal at the moment.

Gray has played multiple games at full back and mostly done fine defensively, but stuggled one vs one defensively against quick good dribblers. Yet part of the fan base describes that as him getting abused defensively.
The games I've watched he's been abused. He's no FB, but that's more my point no one is really criticising him because we understand his age and that it's not actually his role.

We signed Odobert - with Son our starting left winger how many more should we have signed?
Not Werner. We needed a starter for the right AND left.

I don't understand how anyone can watch what Werner offered last season and happily go into this season thinking yeah I'll have more of that please.

The point was the signing didn't prevent us signing another left winger as was implied in the post I was responding to.

I wonder if there was a clause in the original loan that said x amount of games triggered a loan for the following season?

It possibly did considering his rather high wages. Maybe no Werner and the money we are spending on him could have gone towards a transfer fee and lower wages on another prospect?

I'd honestly rather a prospect than Werner because we knew what we were going to get from him. Not much.

fudge .. that's not acceptable at this level

The next two games probably are his future, while I think he has the backing of the club, drop further down the league and start to drop out of cups?

Win the next two, stumble till January re-enforcements and injury returns and he'll have till the end of season, lose the next two ...
