Christian Eriksen

"It depends on Daniel Levy. And another club has to come in. Or I have to sit down at the table and negotiate a new contract. You can't set a date yourself."

My reading into this is Eriksen or his agent wants another club in come in. Zidane doesn't want him. Zidane's 'boss' Perez does. But Perez begged Zidane back with a promise of control. Zidane want's Pogba instead. Another club coming into the race might force Real's hand instead of them waiting until the end of the window in the case of the Pogba deal falling through.

Personally I think he'll be here in September. Will he get the Danny Rose treatment from fans?

This is the general consensus in Spain, Zidane wants Pogba and Hazard and they just bought another player as well. Barca are going after de Jong, Griezmann and probably de Ligt. Neither team will have money for him or have him as priority.

@nayimfromthehalfwayline Erisken will do very well in Spain, more space, slightly slower game, he will crucify half the teams in this league. And even a year of an fading Modric alongside Eriksen would be something to see.

Something has always left me cold with him, undoubtedly a great player but im not sure he has the mentality to match his ability.

My interest was piqued by his agent saying two English clubs and one foreign one made big offers for Eriksen last summer but neither the player or Spurs wanted that to go ahead.

For me, he is a passionless dead fish. I would not be all that bothered if he left and we got a big fee for him. His reaction to the Ajax win was extraordinary and left me cold.

He sometimes looks happy!
That comment comes across as though you have an issue with his personality, with his public face being quieter and more introverted.

I can sort of understand the Ajax reaction. They were the club that brought him to the big stage no doubt there were mixed feelings for all the former Ajax boys, but it didn't stop them being in the huge pile-on when Moura scored at the end.
He clearly likes us a lot but it's not as though he's a home-grown lad with emotional bounds formed since youth for Tottenham. He's an immigrant doing a job very well for a company that has treated him decently. Good luck to him if he goes elsewhere without screwing us over financially.

Toby and Jan acted the same.

Complete non story.

Madrid have signed the Frankfurt striker for a decent amount, looking at getting Hazard for 100m, Pogba for 100m and apparently are close to a fullback for big money too. They cant have a bottomless pit, do they even need/want Eriksen!?

I wonder if another club is after him. Someone like Bayern maybe

Honestly won't lose any sleep over him going.
More worried he doesn't get a move and form goes out the window.
Same. This isnt the same feeling I had when I read the "Bale doesn turn up to training to force Real move".
Or "Berba meets with Utd to shake Alex Fergusons hand".

The guy is class yes, but only consistent for Denmark. It is a tough one though as he scored 10 and assisted 17 so we need to replace him with better or change our reliance upon him.

He cannot take a corner, fact, and as a free kick specialist is pretty fudging unspecial at them. He clearly doesnt want to be here anymore so maybe we can look to sell him to Real and try and get Isco/Bale?

To be fair to Eriksen though, he has been here 6 years which is a long time in football and he probably does want to win things. He had his chance at the weekend but didnt take it and failed to turn up, so I think we all know he wants out. Whilst it would be great if he signed a contract we know thats unlikely given the comments, so best to both part ways and move on.

Cash and dani ceballos (sp?) I reckon.

It's a very professional interview.
I've done a good job, I want a fresh challenge after six years. If that doesn't work out I'll sign a new contract and see what extra value I can add here.

Nothing wrong there at all.
If the opposite comes they suits all parties, good luck to him.
If it doesn't, I'm glad he's still here.
Simples.

It is professional words but unneccessary. You keep these comments behind closed doors IMO. He knows there is interest and he is now making it public, which gives the onus to the buyer. Not wise unless you know you arent going to play a game for the club again, which IMO he knows he is off - so clever I would say. If nothing comes through you then sign a contract and dont upset the fans as they know nothing about it all otherwise.

He has been quoted over the years as saying he has a plan as to how he sees his career going. Levy has been trying to get him to sign a new contract for over a year without agreement. It has always been obvious to me that he wants out of the club. Personally I have no problem with that all. He wants to go, fine, I appreciate what he has done for the club, but now the sooner he goes the better as far as I am concerned. I would rather he go now than stay for a year and go on a free.

Could be where Levy has been going wrong. mountain dew.jpg

It is obvious Eriksen will do a Carrick. He will not make a scene or go on strike but will continue playing for us if he does not get a move. He will keep his head down and not be a disruptive force in the dressing room. But like Carrick it looks like he will simply refuse to sign a new contract so Levy will be forced to sell him. If we ask for too much money we risk him going on a free.
