Danny Rose

I think equality and morale should always take precedence in this kind of situation.

To give Rose preferential treatment now would just be storing up plenty more problems for the future. Playing with a marginally worse left back is by far the preferred option. But the sale has to happen in the summer so that Rose doesn't get a win here.
But wouldn't selling him be the win for him? Keeping him and not playing him, on the other hand...

Of course we do not want to cut off our nose to spite our face, but if sending a message was the only thing that mattered, then keeping him and playing him in the cups would be the way to go.

Sell him after his last chance at a World Cup.

That's not a win for him.

Just throwing this out there - Emirates Marketing Project will be looking for another LB in January now that Mendy's done his ACL and they have no one to replace him with. Should we sell him in January for an inflated fee? Could we find a replacement if we did? Is it wise to do so?

If they throw in sane we have a deal

Sure but we have to ask them to include Jadon Sancho in the deal.

I know they sold him, just to fcuk with their heads.

The government really should have me doing deals for them.

With the way we play, we can't afford to lose him until the summer. Whoever we get in is going to have to learn a very tactical role and that's not gonna be helped if they join in January and are expected to play a part in big games.

Nah, if City have full-back problems then it could cost them, we don't wanna give them any help at this stage. If Davies gets an injury then Rose would be vital for us.

Is Ernup even a name?

A Rose by any other name would smell as sweet - with apologies to Bill the Quill

No, don't sell him, especially in January.

He'd be motivated to play well to go to the WC, daft if he isn't.
So him blabbing to the media was not naivity but calculated? In which case maybe we should neither sell him nor play him for at least a year, otherwise he'll have set an unwelcome precedent.

Ernup is an anagram of 'prune', obviously. I thought that much was oviobus.

Blah January blah £60m blah Fulham's left back blah loan blah overseas blah rival blah Davies blah cover blah £75m

don't forget he's homegrown. And we don't have a surplus of homegrown players. Neither does Emirates Marketing Project and co. Another reason not to sell. And why would we want to sell anyway? just because he did a silly interview in a newspaper? It saved the club 2 weeks of wages. he should do more :p

I think we'll be selling him in the summer so if we can squeeze their balls to get stupid money in Jan, say, £70m then I'd accept it. Go and spend that on Sessegnon and Andre Gomes and we're stronger

Loan the lad Georgiou out for the second half of the season and see how he gets on in the championship buy Sessegnon and we are done.

Im pretty convinced Rose is gone. Im also pretty convinced its not that big a deal providing we get some talent in to replace him.

That said, Im also pretty convinced it wont happen until the summer.

We wont want any major upheaval mid season. Nobody coming in is likely to hit the ground running, so we will keep Rose and Davies until the summer. Then I fully expect a Walker like transfer very early in the window, big money, no fuss.

Unlike that one though hopefully any replacement comes in nice and early for a pre season.

You seem easily convinced
