I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

A mystery wrapped in an enigma. He was having an average game again, a few misplaced passes, dwelling on the ball, and then.... pulls off an outrageous goal -how he got the power in that shot...
Then he goes back to having an average game..and then scores again. Maybe we should play him up front. He got a shot off quickly both times.

He might have got a third as he made a great run, pointed and shouted for the ball, but Ade didn't see the pass.

He has form with Rabonas

I can't believe he doesn't fall over, in fact he remains perfectly balanced despite doing the whole thing at pace - obviously very good at that bit of skill...

ive literally never heard that term in my life

Me either! Suddenly heard it like a hundred times tonight.

I watch 2 or 3 games a week, actually played mens football for 20 years, I've seen this trick numerous times (although not to score a goal, or performed anywhere near as well as lamela) but I've never heard that term before tonight!

Where the hell has this term come from?!

During the match I showed my brother that famous goal by Paolo di Canio against Wimbledon about 14 years ago after having a chin wag about the Italian's controversial facist views, as ya do. After hearing Martin Tyler cream his pants I put the laptop down looked up at the TV screen and then bang Lamela scores something as memorable, you really couldn't make it up.

It really is something you can't tire of watching, simply brilliant.

Even Bentley scored a great goal or two.

It was a good goal but in all honesty this guy needs to start doing the simple things well first and foremost. Im not going to jump on the bandwagon. Even yesterday I think its his timing, his timing is all wrong in terms of passing, taking on players etc. Its actually fairly frustrating. Overall it was still a very average game from him covered up by two decent finishes.

You're right. He needs to do the simple things right. It's frustrating because I think the moment he puts his foot on the ball, there is an air of expectancy. That he could dazzle us. That's what supporting Spurs is about.

These things would quickly become unforgivable IF his work rate was poor. As it is he is probably one of the hardest working players in the side and his potential remains frightening. The simple things though. Exactly that.

Forget his performance. This goal needs to be lauded more. It was sensational. I have seen it so many times now and I am not tiring of it.

We'll talk about that for the rest of your lives. Tell your grandkids about the moment Lamela scored the most outrageous goal I've ever seen at WHL.
