I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

A few of our players are not exactly happy with Lamelas performances. Hardly surprising from what I've seen either.

Is the jury still out or have they retired already?

:D

I know you are trying to drop some ITK...why don't you go the whole hog and drop some much more juicy tidbits than that?

**** them.
Only Eriksen, Bentaleb and Davies have performed consistently lately. The rest aren't entitled to an opinion as they're no better.
If the players cant give him time I dont know what. Dressing room really is a culture of *****.

And if Ryan Mason is dissing other players performances publicly to his mates a few games after getting in the team he's gone way down in my estimation.

Apart from constantly losing possession and having zero positive impact on the team's results, Lamela is also gutless! Pulls out of aerial challenges by trying to use his boot and gives away free kicks. He is a down hill skier and I don't think he will be part of our squad for too much longer.

Which ones are going to be pertinent. A statement like this has the potential to do more harm than good, so please be prudent...

Did he say something about Lamela publicly? If so, I agree that isn't on.

Doesn't take much to make the connection.

It's actually his old man who is my pal but yes I know Ryan. Very decent, grounded guy.

Been talking to his dad for 18 months now getting so frustrated as he has always been capable of doing that but hasn't been given a chance. Niggling injuries haven't helped as well as a loan move to another PL team who Sherwood felt didn't play a system that would benefit Ryan so turned down the approach preferring to send him to Swindon.

Seriously?.... Do you not think it is a serious concern when our squad see a player in the team who isn't getting there on merit? They see a player in the team playing consistently poorly, making it harder for us to win games and affecting their opportunity to receive their win bonus? They also know there is a player already in the squad who is more reliable in both an attacking and defensive sense who is being kept out by the other player.

I mentioned before that we would be getting into a dangerous situation in terms of our squad harmony if the players realise that the team is not being picked on merit. Players have to earn their place in the team, when it is apparent that this is not happening things get ugly quite quickly.

Like he says, the vast majority of players havent performed and should be taking a look at their own performances instead of concerning themselves with others - that is the coach's job.

That being said was probably just the typical bitchy type of convo you get all the time at clubs, and posting it on here will not do anyone any favours and in true GG style will be blown out of all proportion....

Anything involving the captain and vice captain is fair game though. And so is Capoue.

You are right that some players should be able to do better.... However I think most of those players who that applies to have now been removed from the starting line up (Capoue, Kaboul, Adebayor, Chadli). Dier is still getting in because he is literally the only player we have left who can play right back (although I worry what this current spell is doing to his confidence and fear that we could be ruining any potential career he has with us as a centre half). It is therefore only Lamela (and perhaps Soldado) left in the team who should be doing better. Interestingly enough I don't see anything wrong with Lamela's work rate (or Soldado's) I don't fault either player with not trying hard enough, I just fault their ability and effectiveness.

You are right that it is the coaches job to do something about this, I would therefore imagine it is the fact that the coach HASN'T done anything about this and keeps on picking Lamela that is causing the disharmony? How many more times should the team put up with Lamela running into a blind alley, losing the ball or conceding a needless free kick before they start to voice their concerns?

Is being kept out? Lamela has only started one of the last 3 league games. So I dont know what the issue is.
As for Lennon. He had a bad game against Chelsea and cost us a goal due to his slackness.

If you could would you swap him for Ocampos?

I would swap him for a proper centre forward.... Has anyone who might want Lamela got one up for grabs?.... Icardi from Inter Milan perhaps?... That might be a good straight swap and I think they have spoken before about admiring Lamela?

Send him back for Destro

Hi mate not from Ryan or anyone connected to him no. Haven't spoken to him for a while it actually came from someone who stewards our home games who knows a few players too.

I personally think we're playing Lamella in the wrong position. He's not a wide man for me (inc inverted or tucked-in) as don't think he can create much from that position.

Should be competing for the position behind the striker - basically set someone up or shoot. Probably would have him and Kane battling it out and/or rotating if up to me.

His fouls, lack of tracking would also

He mostly played on the right of a 4-3-3 in his final year at Roma, but also swapping with the other 2 forward positions.

Pretty sure they were playing a very gung-ho counter attacking game, so a more attacking position than what we need from our wingers.

I read a lot of old match reports when we signed him and a common complaint was that he struggled to beat players from a standstill. Also, his first year there he struggled as they played a possession based game.....which is exactly what we are asking him to do....

From watching him I think he's more of a forward than a midfield "playmaker"
