Brilliant today and in the Europa on Thursday too. I have been one of his biggest critics on this board but on Thursday I though he was MOM and not far off it today either.

Totally at fault for goal 2 and 3. No anticipation of Drogba's position when Oscar had the ball given to him on a plate by Lloris and totally abysmal schoolboy defending for the third.. In both cases he let the striker get goal side when he could have avoided it.

Hope the Moreno rumours are true because Vertonghen has too many lapses of concentration to be a good CB

I've inly seen the game online via a poor feed but for the 2nd drogba looked as if he may have been offside and for the 3rd if verts uses his hands the same way Willian does then it's a pen and red card.

One poor game, his first poor game in a while. And really two situations that were poor, not like he was dominated or poor all game. I don't see how that changes things.

Did well against Lukaku in the Everton game. Apart from the goal it wasn't like Drogba was bossing Vertonghen all game.

Unfortunately he wasn't at his best yesterday. He should have got tight to Drogba for the second but even Kompany would struggle against the likes of Drogba. He was shrugged far too easily against Remy, shouldn't have shown him inside, but him and Fazio need to continue playing and continue to form a partnership, that is only going to come through playing together.

Solid observation. At the same time he needs to get back to block as Remy is capable of just hitting that with his left foot. Not an easy situation. Still think he should have done better, but one on one with that much space against Remy it's not like most centre backs just win it every time.

Yes without a doubt, against the best side in the country he did not have his best game I agree but he has been outstanding in his previous games. Our CB's are under far to much pressure and until we sort out a proper DM they will continue to be so.
