Because it's a throwback to the 1881 Scottish kit in the primrose yellow and rose pink racing colours of Archibald Primrose, the 5th Earl of Rosebery, an important Scottish Liberal peer and devotee of the turf who became one of the Scottish FA's early patrons.

Scotland continued wearing the kit on and off until 1909.
