Micky van de Ven

As I said when the Brentford team news came out. If he was ok and being saved he would have at least been on the bench.

Either the docs have lied to Ange, or Ange has lied to us….as imo it was not about managing minutes on Sunday.
Ange is giving the same reason for vdvs absence lol. Getting boring now.
THEY BOTCHED IT, AGAIN.

Here's the key dates:

30-Oct - Emirates Marketing Project league cup game where he was off after 14 mins, ironically playing at LB
08-Dec - that fateful Chelsea game where he lasted 79 mins and then disappeared again
30-Jan - 45 mins against Elfsborg, got our hopes up

What is implied is that they are doing some proper controlled conditioning on him and feel he's not responding well enough to be put in the high risk match situation again yet.

I guess all we can do as fans is trust the process.

Indeed. I bet with our current crisis if he got asked if he could put his boots on and fill in, he would still do a decent job, what a class act he was
I was hoping some cartilage/knee replacement tech might have advanced enough to give Ledley a chance before he was too old but alas not:(

That said I read about Linsey Vonn (queen of skiing) the other day and she's back top level skiing after a six year break after having a titanium knee fitted. (She's 40 yrs old now)

And if anything is going to test a knee out...it's downhill skiing.

I think Ange is managing the message because whatever he says it gets used against him

He has some previous with stuff like that, doesn't he?

We can only hope...

If Ange is just telling the truth at least it doesn't sound like a series setback or new injury.
I've got a feeling he might still be involved, starting or sub.

They way he talked about we've got a big end to the season and really emphasized the EL BUT one game from a final is a massive chance.

As I say I think VDV will be involved...he can miss Villa if they want.....that'll give him 10 days until United.

I don't think so. VDV was interviewed on several TV stations and on Spurs TV after the game, and he was just a big grin. Absolutely no sign of anything remotely looking bad. He did say himself that the tempo was low, and that the PL would be a whole different thing, and that he probably wouldn't have played if it was PL opposition.
Damaged by previous events, I genuinely think they just want to be extra careful.

Let's hope her career goes downhill very quickly.

We will find out shortly ...

Look if they are taking their time, player isn't feeling 100% and as Ange specifically said, we can't afford to have re-injuries at this point, all ok

If 3 games from now, he's still not playing, it's probably something more.

Hopefully van de Ven is fully match fit before his next start…

In my own football related struggles with calf and hamstring muscle injuries I got told that immobility in hip and back makes the nerves system not communicating fully with the muscles and by that causing issues, like muscle tear.

VDV looks stiff as a board, look at the first steps running off.

I injured my ankle badly in October 2023 playing football. Had a variety of scans that show that all is fine, but it still gives me horrendous pain and inflammation. Apparently you have these little nerve endings that act like sensors that tell your body to adjust positioning to prevent injury when you're e.g. running. If they get damaged you're basically f***ed as you'll always inflame that area as your body isn't adjusting instinctively in real time to prevent stress. So you get chronic pain and inflammation even though scans show there's nothing wrong. I suspect that's what has occurred with a few of these players having found out about the phenomena myself.

Yes it seems logical that when coming back from serious injury you put stress on other parts of your body, including your back. So the original injury could be OK but you get twinges and strains in other areas.
E.g. I noticed Bren Johnson had a strange posture when running, almost like he had to keep his back straight, with his legs doing double the work.
You can see when a player like Djed Spence sprints, he just glides across the surface like silk and you realise just how ungainly other players are, they look like they are struggling through a swamp in comparison.
