That's just for general day to defence, I mean what if we have 20K boots on the ground or patrol a no fly zone or step up aid to Ukraine etc. All of that is going to cost tens of billions yet there's no plan for how to pay for it. If we borrow it then our borrowing rates will go up and eventually our taxes to pay for it unless cuts are made elsewhere.

These resources already exist and are being paid for. But the troops are in barracks and planes in hangars.

The problem will be when it kicks off.

I don't think they are, there's facilities when they're in the UK but when they're on active deployment costs go up. They'll need all sorts of additional supplies, planes cost money to fly. Add to that our power costs keep going up so if we produce additional weapons in the UK the cost of those will go up as well.
