Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Whatever happened to that wealthy utopian nation free from union restrictions and lead by the best business brains ready to reap the benefits of market force economy?

It's just a bit of a kick back after 14 years of the Tories feathering the pillows of their core voters, while the rest of the country was repeatedly shat on.

I'm sure the ex miners, steelworkers, shipbuilders, car plant works who have never voted tory in their life and are the ones who will most likely be in need of this payment will be glad that the dreaded tories are getting kicking.
maybe the warm glow of satisfaction from that and that it makes you feel better will keep them warm this winter when they can't afford to turn on the heating.

They will be getting it - its moving from universal to means tested, that's the point. And hopefully it will be withdrawn completely when GB Energy comes to full fruition and heating isnt all about generating overseas hedge fund profits

Going to means tested would make so much sense: however, that would be against the grain as all other benefits are going in the opposite direction towards being universal....

In a way both. There seems to be a push to simply benefits long-term and not have them means tested as such
....well tax credits/child tax credits were means tested as in related to how much you earned BUT never cared about how much you had in savings etc. People currently receiving tax credits are being moved onto universal credit. That benefit does have limits on your savings of £16k.(I think) so a percentage of people will no longer qualify.

So you're admitting now that not all pensioners are living luxury lifestyles in very big houses.
Took you long enough.

You have to hand it to Mossad; now their walkie talkies too. That is some proper James Bond s hit. It’s smoke signals or carrier pigeon for Hezbollah now.

If Israel (or should that be Netanyahu?) wanted an excuse for war they'll get one now.

This is going to cost them allies though. Germany refusing to sell them more weapons now.
