I love my wife and kids I really do but in the one who gets a lecture when I’m having to tell the kids off for dropping the iPad 3 times in a minute whilst walking up the stairs… or because I’m having to shout at the kids to get ready for school (knowing I’m missing a work call for the school run and the kids are too busy playing).

My dad was not involved in anything parenting wise. He was a social club drinker after work Thursday to Sunday and took me and my bro too footy in the day time. Not sure how my mum put up with it TBH

I’m actively involved and spend 80% or my life thinking about the family… it’s a weird dynamic as to how we as men and women think

The only way I get to have hobbies is if a kid shares them.

My son has phases where he's into football and when he's not. When he's into football we'll go up to some matches, when he's not I watch on TV.

Right now he's into playing guitar and cars so I can happily share those hobbies. It's only fishing and archery that I have to do for his sake.

My son never really got into football. Loved tennis and I drove all over bloody Sussex and Hampshire for matches. Thankfully he is old enough to do his own thing.

Also private school was a GHod send because we will able to dump him there at 8 and pick him up at 5 after the after school club. I guess just having one kid helped.

I spend most of my time in the garage which has been converted into "my room" where I watch TV and can not be shouted at for watching more football. Women when they hot the menopause are worth keeping away from.
 
Just getting into a Christmas present book - Termination Shock by Neal Stephenson. I've long enjoyed his books (esp. The Baroque Trilogy, Cryptonomicon and Seven Eves) and this one looks at a simple but potentially painful cure for global warming. Humorous, thought provoking. Fun read.

While Stephenson has always been willing to venture into a certain level of science fiction, he is also consumed with how humans communicate - or conceal meaning in their communications - as well as what motivations like beneath seemingly noble or heroic deeds. And usually it's self interest first. When environmentalism meets profit from protecting substantial real estate investments, we get new age environmentalism from unlikely sources. A very bright and perceptive writer.
 
Going to be a manic week, into the last month of my current contract
I have currently 8 conversations happening around new contracts, calls & emails flying around already
 
Star date 2201.04. An alien entity has materialized at our entry portal holding what appears to be a detailed map of the Levyathant Gas Cloud, a point in deep space that astronomers believe is where the Big Bang erupted from, creating the known universe.

It's certainly an entity near the top of Star Fleet's bucket list of places to visit and map.

Ahh, I was mishtaken. It's just a courier delivering my long, long, long-awaited Spurs away shirt. Got the stadium version that has the colourful patterns all the way around.

My son and daughter recoiled in horror. My wife was in stitches. Got it on as I type this and it (size XL) fits this 6' 205 pound man like it was tailored. Love it. Told my wife 'I'm a Rocket Man' and not taking it off until she makes love to me while I'm wearing it. I'll help her up when she stops laughing.

Didn't get the contract role I really wanted as they said I spoke too much
The interviewers loved me and wanted me but when they told their boss who signed off the decision he thought I wouldn't be what they needed in this role as a listening brief was needed
The recruiter felt that was no reason not to give me the role and pushed back on that, he was really annoyed on the phone as he felt I was the one for that role
I thought you was meant to sell yourself in an interview
I do talk a lot but it's because I'm passionate but maybe I will reign it in a bit for my next set of interviews

Don't let it make you self - conscious in anyway, it'll be worse than being yourself.
