The Space Thread

What does that actually do?

Encourages some interest is all.

To that end a lander/rover is scheduled to land on Mars on the 18th February. Check out the mission and the key stage is the descent via the nasa link.

The entry descent and landing stuff is really cool - the sharp end of which is pre-programmed as there is no reaction time for base given the vast distances .

The James Webb Space Telescope (sometimes called JWST or Webb) is an orbiting infrared observatory that will complement and extend the discoveries of the Hubble Space Telescope, with longer wavelength coverage and greatly improved sensitivity. The longer wavelengths enable Webb to look much closer to the beginning of time and to hunt for the unobserved formation of the first galaxies, as well as to look inside dust clouds where stars and planetary systems are forming today.

The four main engines of Nasa's new "megarocket" are to be fired in unison for the first time, demonstrating the launcher's raw, explosive power.

The Space Launch System (SLS) is part of the agency's Artemis programme, which aims to put Americans back on the lunar surface in a few years
