According to reports in Italy Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as one of the favourites to the sign Juventus forward Fabio Quagliarella. Calciomercato have revealed that his relationship with Juventus boss Antonio Conte is at an all time low and therefore the Serie A champions may be looking to off load the player in the January transfer window.

It is believed that Tottenham Hotspur and Zenit St Petersburg are the front runners to get the Italian, although a move back to his former club Napoli hasn’t been ruled out. Juventus will prefer to sell to the other two clubs rather than to title challengers Napoli and Zenit St Petersburg seem to be linked with players as a matter of routine and that could be the case here.

Talksport had reported that Tottenham Hotspur were targeting Quagliarella in April in a hope that they could sign him in the last summer transfer window. Their pursuit for the player ended when he signed a new contract with the Turin club which would keep him there until 2015.

Since then his relationship has broken down with Conte after the player disapproved about being substituted in last month’s league match against AC Milan. When he came off the forward began to mutter his disapproval about his exit from the game and as a result he was disciplined with a fine by the club. With the possible arrival of Fernando Llorente the Juventus coach may see it as the time to cut his ties with Quagliarella.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to strengthen in the front department with Andre Villas Boas relying mainly on Jermain Defoe this season. Emmanuel Adebayor has rarely figured in the manager's plans since signing for the club in the summer from Manchester Cit,y with reports that he isn’t happy with the current situation. Villas Boas prefers to play Defoe as a lone forward and the Premier League club do require another goal scorer who can take some of the responsibility for the team’s goals.

La Liga side Sevilla have offered Tottenham a cut-price deal for striker Alvaro Negredo after suffering a financial crisis.

The Andalusia-based club are currently reeling after it was revealed that they are almost £15million in debt, and facing years of budget cuts after gambles by the club’s owners.

President Jose Maria Del Nido confirmed the news at Sevilla’s AGM on Thursday, and announced that at least one of the team’s best players must be sold to aid recovery.

‘I am presenting the worst results of all my years,’ said Del Nido.

‘We have done badly, we have not taken the right road, and we have been making mistakes for two years.

‘Without selling players we will return to the mediocrity of the last decades. I want to aspire to something and not wander through the league without pain or glory.’

Sevilla have a host of top talents who could be sold to pay off the debt, including Jesus Navas, Diego Perotti, Ivan Rakitić and Frederico Fazio, but striker Negredo looks set to be the man sacrificed.

The 27-year-old has previously been a target for a host of Premier League clubs, and according to local paper El Confidencial, Sevilla have offered long-term admirers Tottenham a cut-price deal in January if they can rush through a deal.

Tottenham are rumoured to have enquired about Negredo last summer, only to be told he would cost in excess of £25million. But if Spurs can pay up front, Sevilla are now ready to do business for £17million.

It’s a hefty price tag, but given Andre Villas-Boas’ need for a new centre forward in the new year Negredo represents an ideal purchase.

Spurs set to miss out on Fernandinho as Brazilian eyes Manchester move

Tottenham target Fernandinho has claimed he is ready to move to Manchester next month.

The 27-year-old Brazil international, who has impressed during Shakhtar Donetsk's Champions League campaign, said: 'I am closing a deal with an English club. I will play in Manchester in January.'

However, City are unlikely to recruit in January while United are weighing up other targets.

Tottenham are considering a January move for Spain and Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente.

The 27-year-old has not featured regularly for the Basque side this season after refusing to sign a new contract last summer.

Llorente last week stated his intention to leave Bilbao when his contract expires in the summer and the club will look to offload him January rather than lose him for free at the end of the season.

And with the World Cup and Euro 2012 winner thought to be available for around £7million next month Tottenham are mulling over a swoop, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor are the only natural front men in Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas' squad and he is thought to be keen on adding to his striking options, especially given the recent success enjoyed when playing with two up top.

The 6ft 5in striker has no shortage suitors and should Spurs press ahead with their interest they are likely to face competition from Juventus.

A NUMBER of Barclays Premier League clubs are in the hunt to sign former Everton midfielder Tim Cahill on loan from New York Red Bulls in January.

Last month the 33-year-old said he was keen to come back to England on a short-term deal when the Major League Soccer season had ended.

A return to Goodison Park seemed his most likely destination but Press Association Sport understands Sunderland , Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Tottenham and QPR are also interested in signing the Australia international.

Cahill had huge success at Everton after signing from Millwall in 2004, scoring 56 goals in 226 games, before leaving this summer to join the Red Bulls.

He played 14 matches, scoring once, as the MLS club finished third in the Eastern Conference to reach the play-offs, where they were knocked out by DC United.

If he returns to the Premier League Cahill will be following the likes of Los Angeles Galaxy stars Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane , who have spent time on loan at Everton (twice) and Aston Villa respectively, and Red Bulls team-mate Thierry Henry who went back to Arsenal last year.
 
Andre Villas-Boas knows that the long term success of his Tottenham side depends on finding quality long term players for his club. One such player rumored to be in his sites according to TalkSport on Dec. 12, 2012 is Udinese defender Mehdi Benatia.

The talented defender has been a major asset to the Italian Serie A club for the past several campaigns and his talents are drawing attention from English sides Manchester United and Chelsea as well.

However, United, Chelsea and Tottenham all face the same dilemma. That being that Italian club Napoli looks to have stolen the march on the player in the early weeks of December.

All three English Premier League clubs are facing a crisis of depth in the middle of their defense. Whether it is age, injuries or inexperience all three are frustrated by a lack of options that has seen all three of their defensive units be vulnerable at different times.

The English clubs all have the financial means to likely outbid Napoli for the player but it is likely to come down to the contractual demands of the player that could see one of the three offer the best deal.

Miralem Pjanic claims he would be happy to remain at Roma as speculation regarding his future intensifies.

The highly-rated forward is said to have attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona ahead of the January transfer window.

Pjanic first caught the eye during his time with Lyon, with his efforts earning him a switch to Italy in August 2011.

His development has continued in Serie A, sparking speculation that he may be ready to take another step up.

Pjanic concedes that anything is possible, with every player having a price, but he insists it is his intention to honour a contract at Roma which is due to run until 2015.

"I am happy at Roma because the fans love me and my work is appreciated by everyone," he said in L'Equipe.

"Of course you never know what can happen, but I am under contract and I want to fulfil it."

Spurs boss won't be able to spend big so will have to hold on to the likes of Dawson and Parker

Andre Villas-Boas has been told he cannot spend big in January as Tottenham owner Joe Lewis tightens the purse strings, writes the Sunday People.

The Spurs boss hoped to sign Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho and Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente next month, while also eyeing Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazilian star Willian.

But AVB has been told to forget any significant spend in the mid-season window, despite Spurs being in a battle for Champions League qualification.

People Sport revealed last week that AVB wanted to splash out £7million for Spain target-man Llorente, who is out of contract at Bilbao in the summer.

But Spurs are unable to compete with Juventus, who are offering him wages of around £6m a year if he signs for them on a free next summer.

Spurs will be left with Jermain Defoe as their only senior striker if Emmanuel Adebayor heads to the Africa Cup of Nations next month.

AVB was desperate to sign his former Porto player Moutinho last summer and came close to doing a deal for the £20m-rated star. But that now stays on hold until next summer.

In response Villas-Boas has pulled down the shutters on his existing squad, insisting that QPR targets Scott Parker and Michael Dawson cannot leave, even on loan.

The Spurs chief has also told keeper Brad Friedel to forget about a move back to Blackburn.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for Christian Eriksen this week but it is another Ajax target, Toby Alderweireld, who has now welcomed Tottenham's interest.

Alderweireld, 23, is a graduate of the prestigious Ajax youth system and the full-back has been on Tottenham's radar since the summer.

The only cloud in the sky is that Arsenal are also thought to be keen and the youngster reserved praise for the Gunners too.

Alderweireld said: "If the time is right, it will come, but now Ajax is the most important thing. Therefore, I expect that I can be watched in the Arena after the winter break.

"Ajax is a very nice club. It won’t be hard to play here all my life – but if I had to choose it would have to be a nice club like Ajax again and there aren’t many of them.

"But a club such as Arsenal or Tottenham – they are fantastic clubs and would be a step forward."

Blackpool’s Tom Ince has been garnering interest from plenty of Premier League clubs and Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to express a desire to sign the youngster.

Liverpool had appeared to be the favourites to secure the services of the England Under-21 player, but Spurs are keen to swoop for the star.

The Anfield club allowed Ince to leave 18 months ago during the turbulent reign under Kenny Dalglish and they have begun to rue that decision.

It is no secret how much Liverpool would like to have, former player Paul Ince’s son back in the squad.

It has been reported that Brendan Rodgers has agreed a fee of somewhere between £4m and £6m for the England Under-21-star with a wage packet of around £25,000 a week.

However, the Reds boss may have to up his offer as Blackpool are aware of intense interest elsewhere.

Tottenham are said to be one of seven Premier League clubs interested in his services, and Blackpool are keen on the possibility of getting a better deal for him.

Daniel Sturridge will snub Tottenham to sign for Liverpool next month, according to The Sun.

Liverpool are widely expected to buy the forward from Chelsea in a £12m deal when the transfer window opens.

And it is claimed that he will sign a £65,000-a-week deal an Anfield rather than rejoin Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane.

While Chelsea manager Villas-Boas played Sturridge in a wide position rather than his preferred central role, which is said to be a factor in the player’s supposed decision.

The Daily Express say Liverpool remain confident of sealing a deal for Sturridge despite a late hitch leading to a proposed medical being cancelled.
 
Los Angeles Galaxy are close to completing the transfer of Carlo Cudicini from English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. The MLS champions have negotiated a two-year contract for the veteran Italian goalkeeper, who has asked to be paid the maximum possible within the club's salary cap.

The 39-year-old has been a Premier League footballer for close to a decade and a half. A regular at Chelsea under current AS Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri, and recognized as the division's best goalkeeper in the 2002-03 season, the former Italy under-21 international was touted for England's national team at one point during his career but elected not to change nationality.

Porto are pushing to secure Christian Atsu to a new contract.

Tottenham and Liverpool have been linked with the Ghana international winger, who has less than two years to run on his existing deal.

Record says Atsu's agent, Saif Rubie, has held talks with English club representatives, which has upset Porto management.

However, despite the Premier League interest, 20 year-old Atsu feels his development would be best served continuing at Porto.
