Wesley Sneijder has got a lot to answer for at the moment if you listened to Inter Milan. The Dutchman has the cheek to expect the club to honour the contract they gave him to stop other clubs signing him. He also expects them to do this whilst he's carrying injuries sustained playing for the Serie A club. And, now they've packed his bags and pushed him out of the back door, he expects to be able to be given time to choose which club he wants to go to. Cheeky Sneijder.

It's not immediately obvious how this causes problems for Tottenham Hotspur, the club have been linked with Sneijder and again last night Calciomercato said Spurs could be the 'solution' to Inter's problem. However, it's news from France and today's newspaper version of L'Equipe which will be more irritating.

Montpellier's Younes Belhanda is still cold on a move to Fenerbahce and therefore Tottenham was looking more likely and L'Equipe say the club made their interest known last week.

However, Inter Milan are now interested and the player fancies the idea of that move - but the Italian club would need to shift Wesley Sneijder to make the transfer possible. He doesn't want to be rushed and therefore the situation could drag out.

It must be annoying for Spurs, they are a big draw in European football at the moment, a club going places who would probably pay a higher wage than Inter Milan, who continue to battle with financial problems. If they decided to walk away because Belhanda is keeping them hanging on, then L'Equipe say that Everton are waiting in the wings ready to pick up the bits should Belhanda find his many options suddenly shrink to Fenerbahce alone.

Tottenham have joined the race for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila.

Manager Andre Villas-Boas, whose side play Manchester United on Sunday, has confirmed midfielder Sandro is out for the season after having surgery on ligaments in his right knee.

A £1.2million offer to bring forward a summer deal for Schalke’s Lewis Holtby was rejected and Holtby is likely to see out the season in Germany.

M’Vila fits Tottenham’s needs in light of Sandro’s injury and his £8m price tag makes him an attractive proposition.

QPR remain in negotiations for the 22-year-old while Everton also want him, but on loan initially.

The main rivals are Russian side Rubin Kazan who have made the best financial offer but M’Vila would prefer to play in England.

Tottenham have also considered West Ham’s Momo Diame, as have Arsenal and Everton. The midfielder has a £3.5m buyout clause.

Villas-Boas admits Tottenham need to bring in another striker during the transfer window, but is fully aware of the perils of buying in January.

Spurs have only one fit recognised forward, in Jermain Defoe, following Emmanuel Adebayor's decision to play for Togo in the Africa Cup of Nations.

And, following the 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday, the Portuguese manager claims he's eyeing some additions to his squad.

"We are in the same position as we were at the start of the season, when [Emmanuel] Adebayor was injured," he said. "We went six or seven games with Clint [Dempsey] and [Jermain] Defoe up front who built a very good partnership as you saw in the match against Man United.
"Obviously it's a difficult situation but that doesn't mean that we won't do anything in the transfer market. We are also aware of the risk that it entails though, so we'll just have to be careful."

Clint Dempsey's last-minute equaliser gained Spurs a point against the league leaders but Villas-Boas went on state that the result will mean nothing if they do not impress in their next two Premier League fixtures.

"The least we deserved was a point. It's always important against the big teams to get results but it's against the other teams in the league that you can sometimes lose your way.

"This point will mean nothing if we can't get wins against Norwich and West Brom. We need to continue to get results and put ourselves where we want to be at the end of the season."

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with Yann M'Vila at the end of last week and whilst much of the reporting just sounded like speculation from the English press, given the long-term injury to Sandro, the news in France on a potential transfer was much more promising. Le10 ran an exclusive, saying that Tottenham Hotspur had contacted the agents of Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila on Friday afternoon. As they said at the time, the London club have been linked with the French international in the past and sent Rennes an offer last summer.

Rennes have always wanted to hold out for a bigger fee than Tottenham were prepared to pay. M'Vila has a firm reputation as 'L'Enfant Terrible' of French football but his club still want a big slice of money for him. The essential QPR link has also been made several times and QPR's Harry Redknapp was quoted by the BBC last Wednesday as sounding very hopeful about the midfielder "M'Vila, I think we're very close."

Both Tottenham, and especially QPR, were willing to discuss his wage demands but Rennes had wanted €11.5m and the two English clubs didn't want to go that high. If no other interest had come in then there was a very good chance that they could get him cheaper and Rennes would be forced into a lower fee. However, it's all over France this morning - including in L'Equipe - that M'Vila is most likely to be on his way to Rubin Kazan after they agreed to pay the fee.

The only barrier now for Rennes is M'Vila deciding that he doesn't want to play for the Russian club and would prefer to spend the next part of his career in London.

SOULEY LOAN TO GROSETTO

Souleymane Coulibaly has joined Italian Serie B side US Grosetto on loan until the end of the season.

The young striker has previously been part of the youth team of Italian side AC Siena and was voted Ivory Coast's Young Player of the Year for 2011 after securing the golden boot at the Under-17 World Cup with nine goals - equalling the tournament record.
 
Tottenham's desperate attempts to secure Internacional forward Leandro Damiao have seemingly paid off, with ClicRBS reporting Spurs have been given permission to launch a whopping £19.7 million offer for the Brazil international. It's a fair rise from Tottenham's offer of £15m earlier this month and shows how keen Andre Villas-Boas is to bolster his attacking ranks. Damiao has reportedly received the green light from his club to move to the Premier League. Expect the deal to be done today.
