On scc someone said that spurs own some of the land that this was to be built on (they'd have had to do a compulsory purchase order as we did with archway). Dunno how true that is.

Yep what Levy wants is what the locals want. I have criticised him for some football things but he does do some things really well.

They are not made out of paper, I was in the building game. What I will say is that when timber frame builds became more popular I think things got worse. Don't think they are insulated well enough. Which is particularly key at the moment considering the energy crisis.

I blame the Conservatives on this, tge should be much higher legal requirements on things like window size, room size, proximity to green open space and with new techniques you could get heating bills and use right down. But that would require tougher regulations and less profits for the developers who I imagine are big donors to the party.

The victorians had a vision for the betterment of society. This government does not, actually can't think of any in my lifetime (born 1968) that have.

When I see some of the developments in other countries and sure most do have more land but they are so much better.
 
Lendlease are Haringey’s Development Partner for the High Road West Regeneration so if there is a problem with the planning application the Council are to blame for not setting up appropriate terms of reference. Don’t blame planning legislation for the scheme that’s been brought forward.

Timber framed are loads better than they ever were and that's largely due to the natural learning curve.

Building regs are more in depth, stringent and demanding then they have ever been and iirc some 'Parts' are about to be updated imminently. All elements have greatly added to the cost of development (new build, renovation or upgrading).

Granted most of it worthwhile but some of it misguided.

I agree about room size, outside space etc.

I last worked on a site as a jointer at sovereign Harbour Eastbourne in 2006. I had started my locksmith franchise but still did the odd day work to help out. Timber frame townhouses were crap, glad they have improved.
 
Watching Roma today once again reminded me how dull it looks inside our stadium! Looks like a funeral compared to what the home fans in Rome served up! Lots and lots of flags and banners etc. So much more vibrant! Atmosphere both looked and sounded amazing. It sounds amazing at our stadium too, but my GHod it looks dull! Are flags and banners really not allowed? Or is just that our fans are lazy and tinkle boring?

Flags should be no more than 250cm in size at their widest or longest section and flagpoles must be no greater than 1m in length.

Flags must not obstruct gangways, access routes, exits and entrances, health and safety signage and stairways.

In order to ensure smooth access and display of your flag we advise that you have it pre-approved. You can do this by emailing our Supporter Services team a minimum of one week prior to bringing the flag to a match.

We reserve the right to deny permission or confiscate flags if they are above an acceptable size, compromise public safety or obscure someone’s view or a camera position.

Flags and banners are IMO not for top teams…people should read about palace and this weekend at Wembley to see the trouble a small club has with them

What problems? Having a game where it actually looks like there are fans in the stadium, in contrast to ours, that look like people attending a funeral?

Exactly what I thought as well.

We've had a few times when the club have supplied flags and it has worked to good effect - Last game at WHL, CL at Wembley, first game and (I think first CL game) at NWHL and the first game this season against City. But that's because it's a particular 'occasion'.
Personally I'd rather we just made loads of noise, i.e. an audible atmosphere rather than a visual one (of course I know you can have both).

Flags have never really been a thing for home supporters at Spurs, including the old ground - certainly as long as I've been going. More of European away game type thing.

I wouldn't want to be stuck behind those banners in that photo of the Roma fans

Never really noticed flags at european away games. Then again i've mostly been in with the home fans.
