I may have misheard but I think I heard them say he was on holiday last night?

Stats suggest the opposite of what you said. Among the top on aerial duels won, low number of tackles, but high number of interception, which suggest that he's in the right position to make interceptions, and doesn’t need to tackle. He was an absolute beast in the EL final, and other games. Of course there are games were he hasn't been at his best, but that's the same with all players. VVD looked awful in the Community shield.

Maybe the stats don't show it but I remember plenty of games last season where we conceded and he was out of picture half the time or running back just as they put it in the net. He's capable of good performances but isn't consistent enough.

End of the day our defence has been terrible for 2 years and he's been one of the CBs in there so he has to take some blame, I think he'll do better under Frank (as will everyone).

He's in America helping his daughter settle into uni is why he wasn't at the match, seems a bit convenient to me.

Might just be a couple of days. We have know clue of his daughters character BUT if she needed dad supporting her with the transition...it's dad she gets. Not the chairman of THFC.
