I wonder for how long taking the blame will be this noble and masterful tactic, if he says it's on him how to fix it and we keep on doing the same thing, it's a public declaration of Ange being unable to do the job required from himself. I'm not suggesting we should be sacking him, a couple of good results and things will look a lot brighter but we seem capable of getting one and then botching the next one, one step forward one step back.

Interesting couple of games to see how it goes, we're City's bogey team whilst the same could be said of Fulham for us in recent times.
 
I’m fully expecting City to fudging murder us, but with Pep you never know.

We will absolutely 100% definitely brick ourselves against Fulham, that’s as obvious as the Ipswich game was.

The flip argument would be, if I was a defender / dm / gk I would be the first to lose a manager like Ange with his all out attack

Yeah, Poch also focused on defence and we drew a lot of games. We get no draws under Ange.
 
will it be too early to start a "ange succesor" thread given that we have a recruitment team and youngsters that are already developing a system of play?
 
I think if Ange leaves especially due to player power, I will really consider stopping following Spurs and football teams. We, the fans, always tend to overhype our chances at the slightest scent of success. It takes time and patience to build a very good team.

I really hope Levy and co back Ange to get rid of the complainers if there are any. As a leader in my working life, I cannot stand people who sabotage the team.

I can sympathise with him. That performance was a shameful one. I have seen some people do this to their leaders - make them feel like they are wrong. Typically takes peers and higher management to give them encouragement. The question for me is which player group is backing Ange? Cos if it is his leadership group that is sabotaging him then that would be real sad.

How would McKenna help? We have had managers who have won trophies in other teams and yet we are breaking them. McKenna won't change anything. Best to use a manager to identify the leaders driving this and get rid. Unless it is Levy himself causing this.

I've been saying this for some time. For me, the changes to this system to make it work on a consistent basis are pretty obvious. The team just needs more structure. The midfield *diamond* needs flipping the opposite way around to how it is, with Kulu at the tip of two deeper lying midfielders rather than two floating attacking midfielders being in front of a single pivot. Unless you're going to put a Rodri level DM in that single pivot it's just going to be too open and we will give up lots of good chances for all our good play.

Similarly to Poch's system, one of the deeper lying mids should drop in when we are in position to allow the full backs to push into midfield.

We also look far better from an attacking POV with a proper winger on the left. Son doesn't suit Ange's system and we always look better with Werner out there for me. There, i said it.

Son out and the diamond flipped would I think improve the overall performance, although I maintain that I think a 3-5-2 would suit this squad far better overall.

If Ange persists with playing the way he is, he's sacking himself I'm afraid.
 
There’s nothing concrete out there, so probably too early to think Ange is already in danger of the sack.

However, the continuing inconsistency of our performances, and our terrible away form, does mean he is under some pressure. A good performance against City, a good result against Fulham and a win over United in the QFs would help things enormously.

The opposite of those results, though, and it’s going to get very tricky for him imo.

I think the inverted diamond as you call it is what we see with Sarr and a DM
It’s why our attacking play isn’t as great but we do concede lads chances (yes he did play vs Ipswich I know)
So i think Ange is trying to get the balance right
Not amount of midfield cover though will fix CBs and FBs not doing basics on crosses
That painful to see game after game

For me Sarr is still playing further up leaving Bentancur or Bissouma relatively isolated if our attack breaks down. What I'm talking about would be more Bissouma and Bentancur playing in front of the defence together similar to how Dembele and Dier/Wanyama did for Poch. Therefore if we lose the ball and get countered you've always got at least 4 players back generally.
