Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

When you are ill prepared and working to a plan that isn't er working then the impression can be that there's no desire imv

Not sure what the relevance of Everton v Liverpool is, often underdog teams will go in to games against better teams knowing they can make up for a mismatch in quality by working (extra) hard - one team working harder than the other isn't a sign of one team being unprepared nor is it a sign that one team thought the game was won before turning up.
The opposition worked harder than we did last night.

So what we saying?
Mentality in the club is consistently consistent
When it matters… it ain’t there
Remember the wonderful Reshad’s against the Belgian side so well known fans thought it was different city?
How about a club whose manager was just put in prison?
We buy players and they seem to adapt a minimum mind set

Intensity and drive

Starts at the top of pitch and I personally think new players will look at the older players…maybe even the captain for an idea of how and when to do it

When they see big name players losing the ball in every challenge maybe mentally they think what’s the point

No coincidence we have new blood come in and start well then regress

The manager needs to earn his money
The players getting paid more need to stand up and be counted.

We will get it over the line on Thursday but it won’t be enough if these big names don’t grow a pair and show some balls

Maybe so but then there are other times we don't unless we are attributing every cup loss to it? Sometime you just lose

But after an 8 day window or rest and a chance to reaffirm ideas and put arms round players etc, last night is a bad look on the manager IMO

I don’t mind losing to a good team
These europa losses ain’t against good sides
And these players should carry that as much as the manager
Not one of theirs starts for us… yet to a man they outworked us everywhere

Third gutless cup game this season in a row, lucky its two legs..............

I suppose we'll see next Thursday. Personally, I think we'll go out there, not take the opposition lightly and beat them.

Time will tell.
I imagine we'll start decently, not score. We'll then give up some high percentage chances as chances, they'll likely score.

We'll come out after half time better after Ange shouts at them, we'll either score early and go on to win, or huff and puff for 17 minutes before they cut us open on the counter and finish us off.

My mate made the excellent point that he feels the last few months have sucked the energy out of the club, and that it is going to be virtually impossible for Ange to come back from that situation. I agree with him.

I was very, very disappointed that he either couldn't sense the complacency, or couldn't change it at HT. He feels like someone who has lost his energy...

It’s exactly why I said we would win it
These cowards get extra lives
It all died when we stopped playing Ange ball
Haven’t played it since last year and I believe when he changed the set up vs Everton he gave the players that doubt back

Yep
It’s a plod
Just a lack of heart now
Can see the younger players believe and some of the older ones don’t believe they can or will do it
It’s why Kulu is so key as he doesn’t doubt anything

That is a real risk, it's the same risk United is taking with Amorim

These players have run themselves into the ground for Ange, they have outrun/outsprinted pretty much every team in Europe, they restart play faster than anyone else, all of this ... and you don't win ...

Winning creates motivation/commitment/confidence, losing constantly, against brick teams is going to damage the players.

I don't see a come back from here
- We won't win Europa with Ange (next two rounds are 2nd leg away)
- We are 10 points off 7th with 11 games to go

The real question is do you just throw an interim in and hope the new manager bounce gets you to conference league for next season?

While I can agree with that and other issues it comes down to one thing for me.

With Bill Clinton it was famously the "economy stupid"

I want to say to Ange "it's the tactics stupid"

I fully believe Levy, the board even you and me as fans can be partly to blame. But the tactics this guy puts out are criminal.

They used to run
They used to restart quick
They used to play high
These are all things these players did
They don’t do it anymore
We don’t press
We don’t okay high
We don’t have inverted full backs

Yep, basically

- The one way to play thing was neither sustainable or effective
- Alternate (where we kind of do some stuff, guess @Bedfordspurs point) seems even worse.

But I think the reality is more @thfcsteff's point, the fight has been beaten out of this team, no matter what they put in, the tactics leaves them exposed, and not only do they lose games, but individually they catch a lot of criticisms. This fudging death stumble since December has been fudging painful ...

I think the players are getting way with murder myself
Some very senior, very well paid players who haven’t actually achieved enough in their careers should be stepping up now
Instead… again… it’s the kids showing the fight

This is the most I've ever seen a team continue to play for the manager. Usually they would have downed tools by now, but credit to him, Ange still has them believing...until the matches actually start and the tactics don't work.

He must really be a great motivator to have them plugged in for this amount of time in the face of the evidence that it doesn't work. Even after half time, they'll come out fired up.

To do what? the senior players probably are thinking exactly the same thing every pundit/analyst and most fans think, it doesn't work

To @fernadez's point, I'm amazed it's taken this long for the players to pack it in ..

Earn their money
Do what’s being asked
When they did it, it did work (when we had a fit team)
What we are seeing more and more is senior players hiding in plain sight
Let’s just start with Sonny… have you seen his stats for yesterday?
Where is the professional pride
