Like your optimistic view. Just don't see it. We will just tag team people coming back from injury with other ones. I don't see us whittling down the injury list to just 5 anytime soonYes. Plus now we have a few weeks of only one fixture per week hopefully players can find fitness and return from injury. Then if we can win a couple of league matches and get safety confirmed in league we should then go all out for Europa league. I don’t care at this point if we finish 16th. But we have to go all out for that.
The media spun “I always win something in my 2nd season” to “I’m going to win something here in my 2nd season”. He stated a fact that got twisted and people lapped up the latter version.
So has Jose and Conte and they didn't win here, and I had more hope with them then I do with Ange.....nothing works and we know whyI think it’s more the inference he made, he has historically always won stuff in his second season ( I have no idea of this is true or not) and therefore why would this season be any different.
I think that’s the impression he wanted to give, which wasn’t a wise choice.
Who cares what he said and what he didn’t … his managerial record at spurs says it all.The media spun “I always win something in my 2nd season” to “I’m going to win something here in my 2nd season”. He stated a fact that got twisted and people lapped up the latter version.
I wanted him to succeed, i had said give him 3 seasons, even when it gets rough.
Not a dig at you fernadez but this comment highlights just how ridiculous football has got and the stupidly intrinsic level every comment is looked at. This was a comment months ago, where a journalist got something factually wrong and he corrected them. I've corrected people many times on factually incorrect things about me or others - Why the fudge this is being spoken about still I have no idea, whether he wins something this season or not he was still within his rights to correct him and I can't believe there is still a fuss about such a minor thing all these months later....Big difference between 'have always', 'previously always' and 'always' though.
If I say I always leave for work at 07:00 the inference is that I will in the future. If I say I have always that infers I may not in the future.
From what he said it's a natural deduction that he meant he will again. It's not like English is his second language or anything.
I honestly don't know why this whole 'you've got to give managers lots of time' thinking came to be, our previous managers didn't not succeed due to a lack of time, they didn't succeed because they weren't a good fit and no amount of time would have changed that. The managers that have done well here didn't require lots of time, they got on and done a good job. Talk of giving Ange a 3rd season (I know that's not what you're now saying, but some are) is absoloutely crazy
It's the way things are now, all about narrative unfortunately. If he goes on and wins something then the quote will come back around and work in his favour, if he doesn't it won't.Not a dig at you fernadez but this comment highlights just how ridiculous football has got and the stupidly intrinsic level every comment is looked at. “Ladies and gentlemen, our pilot today has made a number of serious errors on his flights over the past 18 months, but we as an airline believe that he will get things right if given time.
Now please settle back and enjoy your flight.”
I feel it's more of the sticking when things get bumpy, I guess regardless of time frame. Whenever our managers hit a spot. They went. And most of the times I wanted them gone too. But there comes a point where it's just not changing with Ange.I honestly don't know why this whole 'you've got to give managers lots of time' thinking came to be, our previous managers didn't not succeed due to a lack of time, they didn't succeed because they weren't a good fit and no amount of time would have changed that. In general I agree with what you say, but I don't see how you have to 'earn the right' to state a fact. My point is football now is nuts with how anything can be said, twisted and made a meal out of. Ten, maybe even five years ago this 'incident' would not of been spoken about months later. Modern football eh.....It's the way things are now, all about narrative unfortunately. If he goes on and wins something then the quote will come back around and work in his favour, if he doesn't it won't.
There is an element of he not have having earned the right (in this competition) to make those sort of statements. He sees himself as a serial winner rightly, to others he's a unknown novice also rightly.
Because when we play those teams they also have to come to our groundWhat makes you think after tonight we can go away to Gala (for example ) and not get battered
We were fairly lucky they were
Wasteful earlier in the cup
GHod is such a fůcking low-level debate anyway. Who cares? What difference would it make if he got up and said "I'm going to win all 4 competitions this season"? You might think he's a bit mad but...does it make us any better/worse at football?
Pointless discussion stirred up by the absolute tinkle-poor level of media in the UK, and people on the internet always looking for gotchas.
Anyone who thought that we would have done anything decent against Liverpool is deluded… we didn’t even have a punchers chance against them. We all knew we were going to dumped …. 4-0 was not even shocking anymore. As to the question on this thread well Ange is effectively a lame duck at this point. I felt he deserved to see out the Carabao Cup campaign given that on the way we beat both Manchester clubs plus won the first leg v Liverpool. But now? I mean does anyone expect him to be in the job on the first day of next season? We won’t win the FA Cup and could be out in a couple of days. The Europa is a more realistic target but given our performances this season it’s highly unlikely.
Edit: Just to add the Europa League is a fantastic opportunity under the right manager!
