Danny Rose

He is contradicting himself at best, and at worst is being to totally disrespectful with his 'players you don't have to Google' comment. But as I said, it is not even about his arguments, he and his agents have engineered this to get a move. It is absolutely nothing to do with wanting to see our club do better and I expect more of the people that are falling for it.

And I expect a lot more of the people who want to take discussions that were *already being had* about the exact same things and lump them into a new box labelled 'Verboten! Anti-Tottenham Propaganda by the Traitor Danny Rose' - something we can't talk about because it would be giving in to his insidious strategy or something.

We were *already* talking about it. Rose just provided the first public confirmation that people at the club (himself, at least, and *maybe* some others too) share those opinions. His (undoubted) ulterior motives when making the statement don't change the fact that what he said can be considered true in many respects.

Here is a current pro who thinks differently. And I seriously don't think all pundits are in agreement about how we run things - Carragher has pointed out that we haven't won anything at all to justify our optimism, and the legion of armchair speculators from Merson to Shearer have derided us for our lack of spending as much as they've praised us for what we've done.

Only Gary Neville really seems to think we've done everything right - and I disagree with him there.

As for Rose going to the S*n, I wrote a long post yesterday explaining why what he did was wrong - not going to go over that again. But what he did and the truth in what he says are two different things.

A pro who signed a deal in the exact same circumstances as are on the table today?

Alex Ferguson maybe the greatest manager of all time has publicly praised how we run a club and also how we work with youth as a club, I think he is a good judge.

Only Gary Neville thinks Spurs have done things right? Yeh course, thats trash

As you've admitted, the fact that he has done this in public, to The Sun, three days before the our first match, it is the problem. Nothing that he said is a shock. But he is not doing it because he wants to better Tottenham (as he is hilariously trying to make out) he is doing it to push the buttons of the fan base and divide the club and likely his team mates, so that we have no choice but to give him what he wants. There is absolutely nothing here that he is doing in order to better us.

Clearly Kyle Walker has something to do with this, they were close wasn't they? Kyle has probably been telling Rose all about his 200k a week wages and his massive signing on fee and Rose wants the same.

There's probably chunks of what Rose said that a number of players agreed with - we need to bring in 2-3 decent additions to create competition, we pay less than peers, a lot of the players we've been linked to this summer they had to google to find out who they were. I don't buy the view that the squad will violently disagree with what he said at all - they might disagree with his timing given it will distract from Sat but not the content

To all those who want Levy & Co to spend money over and above the current financial plans they are simply whistling in the wind.
So to those folk, please do us all a favour and go and whistle for a more well heeled football club and do all those who are enjoying the Spurs experience a big big favour!

You can't alway get what you want!

I'd heard that he wanted out before the end of last season but unlike Walker, we were determined to hold onto him. I don't think Walker's move has changed anything, they are both at similar stages of their career and need to move in the next year or so if they are to get a big wage deal before they retire.

I get what makes you happy.....spending. When it's not happening, you''re not happy. You start bashing Levy and even recently weren't that pleased that Lewis has not decided to w*nk his fortune up the wall.

And when you strip it back, What is so wrong with our strategy? You have complained many times, yet history shows we have continued in an upward trajectory , and considering that strategy, we are punching well above our weight. Something's going right somewhere.

It begs the question. What are you expecting? What extra are you trying to eek out?

I don't care if Lewis w*nks his fortune up a wall, blows up an orphanage or dies in an autoerotic asphyxiation incident. He has no significance to me whatsoever beyond being some faceless guy at the top of our ownership structure that we rarely, if ever see.

Tottenham matters to me - not Lewis. If he doesn't spend on or get involved in the club he owns, he's just a neutral owner to me - not good or bad. I don't know why you're so absolutely smitten by the man who owns us over the club you actually love, to the point where you care more about Lewis keeping his fortune intact than our club getting some investment.

See how easy it is to misrepresent someone's position? You're absolutely not a fan of Spurs, @ricky2tricky4city, you're a fan of Lewis, given that you care more about him keeping his money safe than about Spurs, apparently.

*Very* easy.

Also probably 100% dishonest, and certainly morally wrong in that it denigrates a fellow fan. But easy.

As for the rest of your 'points' about spending, I have addressed them many times, in many ways, to many different people. I once had patience for people who argued in bad faith, going right off with the 'spending makes you happy! Nothing else!' stuff, but, I'll be honest, mate - that patience ran out a while ago. So, carry on.

I'm sure that they all agree that they should be paid more.

I wonder how happy Rose would be if we spent £40m on a left-back that he didn't need to Google.

I don't think anyone has said that

We cannot afford high earning players at this time in our development.
If people require their club to be paying £150k pw plus for players Tottenham Hotspurs FC is not the club for them. At this current time!

It has been good for us. You only have to look at the current team to see that. Many of them were the type of signings that you'd describe as waste of money punts, but they were the ones that worked out. As long as we do our due diligence before buying to weed out obvious disasters I'd much prefer five cheaper ones that were young and full of potential than one star signing. What if that one 60-70 million player was a failure?

Have we not argued this before? For every waste of money punt we have made, we have also made either an expensive signing or a high-profile signing on a lower fee that actually turned out fantastically well. Point being, waste of money punts are not intrinsically good, big money signings are not intrinsically bad.

Its amazing isn't it that this so called negative strategy has sh1t in the face of money and power spending and is still up for abuse.

Irony is Rose and his success is a product of the system he is a critic of as was Walker as is Alli as is Kane etc etc etc etc etc. The system made me and I not only going to criticise it but I am going to circumnavigate the club and undermine it by doing it in the paper.

If 10 years ago Spurs were what Rose wanted in a club he would not be at our club and he would not have been developed into a left back or wing back and he would not have been in a position to sh1t on those that made that possible. THis is not a rags to riches story where he has done this the hard way, he has had a helping hand from some pretty good people, people he has decided to cu7t off.

Dubai Spurs can say he has paid homage to those that helped but I would say the manor supersedes the praise

From what he said he'd be happy with it as he said about wanting that competition to drive him on. I think they'd all agree with his comments on adding 2-3 players and pretty much the rest of the content. I can't see that his comments will divide the squad based on what was said (rather than how it was /aid)

Again, I don't think anyone has said we should be paying £150k per week to anyone today
