Do you want QPR to get relegated?

Harry Redknapp has again hit out at Adel Taarabt claiming the Queens Park Rangers midfielder only looks slim "because he's had tonsillitis".

Redknapp had claimed the Moroccan midfielder was three stone overweight, before Taarabt, 25, hit back saying he was slim and didn't understand why he wasn't getting in the Rangers side when he kept out Robinho and Kaka at Milan.

Taarabt has been pictured showing his slimline stomach to prove a point, but the 67-year-old manager has reopened the war of words stating: "The only reason he has lost weight is because he has had tonsillitis. That’s the only way we could get any weight off of him." Adel Taarabt

Redknapp added: "He is not fit to play a game, that’s the truth. He is the worst professional I have ever come across and I have been his only ally at QPR for the past three years. He doesn’t try and I have protected him for too long.

"Even I could suck my stomach in for a picture and look OK."

Taarabt had also claimed that the QPR manager is always in his office and never took training, prompting another Redknapp outburst.

"I am the first one in that training ground every day at 7am and I am always out on the training field," he said.

Redknapp added: "When we were last in the Premier League we played Manchester United at home on a Saturday lunchtime.

"I had a phone call telling me Adel had been in a casino until 5am that morning.

"I pulled him into my office and asked whether it was true. He told me that he hadn’t been in a casino until 5am until Friday morning but that he might have been there on Thursday morning.

"After we had been relegated last year we went to Exeter to prepare for a season in the Championship. I had to leave to go and have an operation on my knee.

"Steve McClaren was working with me at the time. As soon as I left he sent Adel home because he wasn’t up to it. The fitness coaches at QPR, everybody tells me he doesn’t try.

"He doesn’t want to run around. I have tried to protect him until now but the fans have to know what’s going on."

Despite the ongoing row between the pair, Redknapp said he would love to have the talented player prove him wrong.

"If something comes off this and it sparks some life into him then great. I would love him to prove me wrong then at least we’d be getting something for our money."

For telling the truth?

For being his usual gobby self. He's supposed be a professional manager. As someone's boss or colleague, that's NOT how you conduct yourself.

Tony Fernandes said:
As a club, we are fully aware of stories in the press over the last few days regarding Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt.

We regret these issues being played out in public and both Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt have been notified of our disappointment regarding their handling of the situation. I have spoken to them both personally.

On behalf of the club, I would like to apologise to the QPR supporters for the embarrassment this has caused and confirm that the issue has been dealt with internally. The club’s entire focus is now on the Aston Villa fixture next Monday and hopefully after a tough few days we can turn a negative into a positive and build on Sunday’s improved display.

Possibly yes.

As someone who has worked as a manager at shop level for around a decade I can emphasise a little as sometimes you bang your head against a brick wall with some people. I've worked with more than my fair share. I'd never do it customer facing though so you're right there.

Didn't John Gregory say the same thing about David Ginola once? And Ginola responded by ripping his shirt off after a goal and showing off his physique.

I don't think Harry is doing this because of frustration or a smoke screen, but because of desperation. Sounds my like a last ditch attempt to embarrass Taarabt into giving a ****, because he knows he needs something special from somewhere.

Or it's just another diversion from the fact that he is doing a poor job there.

*Not my fault, guv. It's them players innit? Just not working hard enough.*

Don't buy it. Taarabt isn't even getting into the team, he's the only player that he's publicly slated. So far anyway.

Well the papers talk less about the match when Harry gives them this type of ammo. It has sort of backfired on him in this case but I do think it is Harry just trying to divert attention from the results.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS are keen on signing former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe, and will offer him a deal in the region of £90,000-a week.

According to reports, Tony Fernandes has given the green-light for QPR to bid for the 32-year-old Beckton born forward, and save him from his Canadian misery.

Redknapp has signed Defoe on two separate occasions for both Spurs and Portsmouth with an approximate combined transfer value of £20m.

The veteran boss has made no secret of his desire to re-sign Defoe after admitting he failed to do so during the summer.

Redknapp said: "We tried all day with Jermain. He was keen to come. We agreed a deal with Toronto but they wouldn’t release him

"There is every chance he will come in January. Almost certainly, I think we will go back in for him. I’ve signed him so many times. I’ve taken him everywhere."

It's unlikely Toronto will stand in the way of their striker who has netted 11 goals in 17 appearances.

Toronto president Tim Leiweke is aware of Defoe's discontent, and looks set to release him in January, he said: "I don’t think Defoe will come back. If he doesn’t want to be here, you get rid of him."

They could do a lot worse than JD but 90k a week!? Come off it, do we even pay our players them sort of wages? Come to think of it have we EVER paid those sort of wages?

sounds mad, but without the comparison with their other players who knows

if they are paying any single player 45k a week or more then Defoe on 90k is smart

I back Redknapp 100% in this one actually.

He has failed in his usual tactic of signing the old boys club, Rio was a high risk move, everyone knew he was done for except Redknapp. But with this he is spot on, Adel has been at enough clubs with enough managers to know his heart is not in the game as it should be, I think players are protected far too much and Redknapp doesn't want him at the club, simple as that. He didn't want him here at Spurs for the same reasons.
