Jose Mourinho - SACKED

This really, really tinkled me off.

but you know, he's so close to bringing a title to Spurs. He's added so much to our play. We're so much more dangerous in attack under him and water tight at the back. Its only a matter of time before we win the league under him

Repulsive individual. Never wanted a manager sacked before. Can't wait til we're rid of him

It is really bad to not have any structure or idea around attacking other than «get it to Kane FFS». The football being boring is also bad.

But visibly making good/great players doubt themselves and their teammates to the extent that they are mere shadows of themselves, that is really making my blood boil. tinkling away 10 years of relatively steady progress in no time. It has to stop.

Levy will (should?) be taking the long view here, we have a box fresh stadium that needs to be full come the start of the next pandemic-free season. This isn’t how.

The silver lining is that we have enough good players, and a far better squad that a number of teams in the top 7 or 8, that with a sensible manager who understands the need to actually have a way of playing and pass hte ball, we might be able to recover quite quickly

I guess we'll see once a new man comes in but don't share your assessment of our squad. Far better than a number of teams in the Top 7 or 8 ? I guess it depends on which teams you put in that category but, for instance, I can't think of a single central defender here who's better than their counterparts at any of the current Top 10 clubs.

I'd also argue that Kane is the only true world-class player at the club. It's controversial, but I see Son more as a form player. Then you have a group of good/above average performers (N'dombele, Lloris, Hojbjerg possibly Reguillon and Lo Celso), then another bunch of players you could swap with basically anyone else in this league without noticing the difference (Doherty, Aurier, Bergwijn...) and the rest is just made of very limited/average players (Davies, all of our central defenders, Sissoko possibly Moura...).

If you take Kane out of the equation, I'm not sure we're Top 10 material. As Bishop said, a good manager with a strong system can make the team much better than the sum of its parts. That's what Pochettino did for a time. Kane tips the balance in our favour but, quite frankly, I'd say Leicester's squad is more balance and more cleverly built than ours - and that's something on which we've improved since Mourinho came in.

I hope you're correct and a change of manager is just what we need. Otherwise, we're in for a 'long and painful rebuild'...

We are playing with no fluidity or style. We aren't getting results. And we have a huge squad and it isn't the cheapest. We have some top players. This has to reflect on Jose.
Who are the actual top players?
that’s a huge thing that gets quoted a lot but I’m not convinced stacks up... I’d welcome someone convincing me... please !!

Kane
Son
Ndombele
Reguillion (debatable)

No one.

GLC is a potential if he gets fit and is played in midfield. Hojberg is quality but I wouldn't quite call him a top player.

I’d agree with that
All would play for the top teams in the league

Pretty much my thoughts as well, Son is world class when on form but as we know he does keep having these runs when he is average. Now i know that all players have bad games but Sonny has these runs and always has done over the years.

As I've said a lot in this debate, we have better players than Villa, Leicester, West Ham and Everton but they have ways of playing and a system. We're completely disjointed and have no plan. Hence why we're playing to less than the sum of the parts

Let’s not forget that in 18/19 we finished 4th on 71 points, and got to a CL final, with this squad plus Eriksen / Vertonghen / Rose / Trippier and minus 9 new players (not including Sessegnon or Gedson). Please let’s not start rewriting history and acting as if this current squad is completely incapable of a top 4 finish.

Kane. Son. Ndombele. Hojberg?.
I mean that’s 4 out of a squad of 25
I’d add Reggie
Aurier playing like he has most of the season
And GIO potentially
But it’s slim pickings
The other players are all players thag haven’t progressed and arguably have regressed.
When you compare with Villa or Leicester for example they have players in the upwards curve performing week in, week out

It was good enough to qualify for the top 4 because as a squad we knew how to achieve it, the manager knew how to achieve it with those players and it was one last hurrah for a collective on its last legs. Much like Fergie's last United side were able to win the league at a canter but then fell totally away with the incoming of a new manager. When you remember the context of that season 71 points in itself is not a great total and Arsenal really should have finished 4th but they bottled it in the penultimate game against Brighton. So I don't know how much weight you can put into the 2018/19 results.

We are 2 years removed from that with a different manager, having lost all 4 of the key men you mentioned and replaced with inferior players.

I do think this side had the potential to finish in the top 4 this season if it had been setup correctly but that has nothing to do with what happened in 2018/2019.

Yup, thank feck Aaron Ramsey got injured during the run-in that season and the Goons PL form faded as badly as ours; otherwise 2018/19 could’ve ended up having as painful a finale as 2011/12.

Can only imagine how bad Pochettino’s aura would’ve been if we’d ended up 5th behind Goons as well as losing CL final to Dippers

I have given him alot of stick recently and most of that was emotions running high. Having thought about it we could get pep in and still play brick as i feel this is more on the players than Mourinho. We really need a shake up and i feel giving Mourinho another transfer window to sort it out may be the best way. Jose is not instructing the players to go out and give away the ball at every attempt and is not telling them to play brick passes. This is alot deeper than just the manager.

Wish he'd seriously fudge off now, he shows no respect for any club he manages.
Only Kane and Son "have the characteristics" of a 10+ goals a season player, what about Bale and Dele?
He brought Vini in and he isn't a 10+ goals a season player?

I was stunned at that but. Bergwijn, Lamela, Moura, Bale, Dele and Vinicius are players not capable of scoring 8, 10 or 12 goals a season? That’s a staggering remark which means these players are either rubbish or Jose is completely selling them short to save his own incompetent arse. My money is firmly on the latter.
