Franco Baldini

Re: Has Franco Baldini been sacked already?

And? Maybe Baldini has indicated he wants to leave but Levy had told him to stay and continue his work until his replacement is found.

And maybe it's a load of guff copy to fill space by capitalising on speculation and the new situation at a club that attracts a lot of attention

Re: Has Franco Baldini been sacked already?

I really hope it's rubbish but it worries me that these stories appear. I think Levy has made an excellent choice on MoPo but to replace Baldini right now would be 2 seriously bad hires in the space of a year, another mistake made.

Can't see it. Unless Enrique has wangled him the Barcelona DoF job (though they have Zubizarreta in post). He spent 4 years in London when he was England's assistant manager, so he is obviously settled here.

I'm not sure who we'd be able to replace him with either. He's one of the best in the business. His South American and Southern European expertise puts him in harmony with Poch too.

Re: Has Franco Baldini been sacked already?

These apparent south american connects become redundant in the premier league. Hardly any team nowadays in this league takes a punt on south American based players and would rather wait until they've proven themselves in a European league. This isn't Spain or Italy where teams activly look for talent there.

Re: Has Franco Baldini been sacked already?

Perhaps it is our niche then? It worked well with Sandro. And Baldini has a track record with the likes of Higuain, Marquinho, Walter Samuel, Lamela etc. Remember Ian Broomfield's specialism is South America too.

It could very well be our niche but i'm not holding my breath. Even if Baldini recommends a young south American, i doubt it will be followed through with a concrete bid (unless there'e major hype around them). Chairman/managers are simply reluctant to take a punt on South American based players in this county.

Eastern Europe on the other hand i feel is more likely. I mean AVB himself hinted that was the direction we were going so i see that as a possibility...

Here we go again.

Franco Baldini facing Tottenham Hotspur axe over losing Danny Welbeck to A.....l

"Franco Baldini could be set to pay for Tottenham Hotspur’s failure to land Danny Welbeck on transfer deadline day with his job.

Spurs chief Daniel Levy is understood to be furious with the club’s Italian technical director over missing out on the England international, who eventually joined arch-rivals Arsenal from Manchester United in a £16million deal.

And The People have reported Baldini could now be axed as the White Hart Lane outfit get ready to re-shuffle their backroom team ahead of the January transfer window.

New manager Mauricio Pochettino had made it clear to the board that he thought the club needed to sign another striker to secure Champions League qualification this season, and last week it was understood a loan deal for Welbeck was close to being completed."

Re: Has Franco Baldini been sacked already?

why were we ****ing around with a loan deal when united only wanted 16m?

Re: Has Franco Baldini been sacked already?

J Rodriguez in January/next summer id imagine Galeforce

Re: Has Franco Baldini been sacked already?

The story originated in the People. It's clearly bull****

Re: Has Franco Baldini been sacked already?

we need something, waste of a season though writing off half of it

Waste of £16m signing a player that the manager does not have long term plans for and if our season rested on signing Welbeck, we were ****ed anyway

do we know that?

even if we then go and get J Rod as first choice in jan he'd be a useful squad player, fills some holes, useful option on the bench, going cheap, seems a no brainer
