Not sure we will go that drastic, but I'm pretty sure the message is you won't see playing time here (Ange dropping VDV in after 3 training sessions over the established players is a statement)

I agree, Dier's lack of pace combined with his often poor reading of game will leave him badly exposed in this system (VDV & Udogie's pace were notable yesterday)
I think we need to get that drastic, otherwise the player will stick around and know he’ll get games as we’re unlikely to bring in another CB unless we sell him.

Tell him he’s not getting a squad number and then see if he still wants to remain at Spurs this season. Having watched us yesterday, I think Dier would be an even greater disaster in this formation than he was when being hid away in a back 3 last season.

He's already got one, as the list of registered players has been lodged. But knowing he won't get any game time might have the same effect.

Think it's unlikely he'll get much games this season. He's clearly 4th choice now and with no European games there will be limited rotation at the back.
So unless there are injuries he's unlikely to get into double digits across all competitions.

I honestly suspect thats happening/happened in some cases. Ange is not pulling any punches at any level it seems, well from what we see on the outside.

Isn’t that adjustable up to the end of the transfer window?

Yes, of course, as there will still be ins and outs. What I meant was the time to have given that ultimatum was before confirming he had a squad number. I assume that could still be changed, but I'd prefer if we didn't have to go that route.
It's a shame as I like Dier and I do believe he has a real affection for the club. But we have to move on, and if Ange has decided he won't play a part, then so does he.

With the Sanchez revival and the lad from Blackburn, not to mention Dier, we should focus our money on one game changing attacker?

I think we can coach our current 7/8 forwards to improve/operate in this system, whereas I don't think that's the case with our CBs beyond the starting pair (and Phillips).

It's tough though - if it's a toss up between say Tapsoba and Ferguson. Do you go moderate short-medium term gain, or potential massive medium-long term gain?

We're not even trying to sign ferguson.

We didn't have up-to £100m available till 3 days ago.

There's not been any strong rumours on anyone since van de Ven and Veliz. I think largely because we don't know what to do - expensive CF, expensive CB, or both cheaply.

The only rumours i've heard is gift orban and vlahovic.

If there is a next-level forward to be had, and we can afford them...

The only thing is Richi was 60m. He is decent, if not stellar, and we need to give him a bit of time. If we buy in another forward we might not give either enough time to settle and develop. Tricky one. I think most feel like Richarlison isn't the long-term solution, but we have to give him a go first.

I don't think there's been a serious Vlahovic one? He'll go to Chelsea if he leaves Juve.

And Orban is maybe a bit ahead of Veliz, but he's a punt that will be used in rotation across the front 3, not as a starter.

Muani makes more sense, but that's all tied up with the Neymar and Mbappe uncertainty now.

Forget Ferguson we wont be spending £80m to £100m anyone, that isn’t how we operate.

We missed the boat on Ferguson by failing to identify him when he was at Bohemians. Of course yet again it was Brighton who did what they should do. We of course didn’t do what we should do. Shock.

Our best bet is to buy Orban and hope he turns into a beast.

What else can we do with the way this club operates?

You know it keeps you happy and a reason to get out of bed in the morning.
