I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

Re: Official - Lamela

BREAKING! The doctor who dealt with Lamela in Rome, Doctor Gemignani confirms to @angelomangiante he is fit to play once again.

Saw it on facebook

Re: Official - Lamela

I'm now awaiting Sherwood to come out and tell us that Lamela is fit but that he's not good enough at the moment to be picked.

I would love to see him come off the bench in each of the remaining games. No point throwing him straight in to the team if he's just back from serious injury & our games are now virtually meaningless.

But Tim said he's injured and that there is no chance he will gain match fitness before the end of the season

Re: Official - Lamela

So Lamela's doctor says he's fit to play, pressure swings firmly back to Sherwood now, with Levy watching.

Re: Official - Lamela

Sherwood will have to feature our most expensive acquisition in his team selection. Surely he can't pretend that Lamela isn't good enough!

Why? He's been out for ages, fit to play could just mean to take part in training etc Isn't it a bit far fetched to expect him just to go straight into a squad after so much time out?

Re: Official - Lamela

Fit to play yes but match fit? A bench appearance or three maybe but doubt he'll be straight in the starting XI.

Of course if TS does start him and he breaks down because he's been rushed back it will of course be Timmeh's fault and if TS doesn't start him he'll be ****ged off as well.

Re: Official - Lamela

Wonders if Roma requested there own medical on Lamela because they were expecting a large sum of money due to a number of Premier league appearances he makes each season and they have called foul play. :-k

No one find it odd in the slightest we allowed him to have a medical at Roma!

No more far fetched than playing Bentaleb, Zeki Fryers or Harry Kane. Or reintroducing Kaboul after injury.

Possibly, but didn't Sherwood say earlier that Lamela had been various places for treatment before. I think he might have said Roma even. With the Baldini connection and Lamela having spent two seasons there I don't think it's that strange to think that we might just have felt that he would get a benefit from seeing their medical staff.

Wouldn't matter if he was injured or fit. If he doesn't play the games they wouldn't get paid..

But its easier to explain to us fans an injured player over a 30m wonderkid not playing.

If not injured then the board and management need to take a long hard look at themselves.

Fair point

Re: Official - Lamela

Match fit...or simply not injured? If he's ready to play games, there's no reason why he shouldn't be given opportunities for the rest of the season. It's in everyone's best interest to give him more playing time to adapt as well as he can for next season - for a talent like his (at least we are told), it would be madness from Spurs not to try everything to make him flourish at WHL.

I agree fully. If he's fit he should play. If he's then ****, but still fit, play him again.
